Pizza Bros

seeing long-lost best friends is complicated
because you remember their favorite snack
and how they got that scar, and the time they start to get ready for bed
and even what they sound like when they’re about to cry
but you don’t remember the reason why you stopped talking

Today I met up with my friend Nick. Nick has always been my friend since I could remember the first time we met. Back in kindergarden when we were learning how to count with M&M's he asked if he could eat mine and I said sure, and a friendship was formed.

There's tons of stories of us from elementary to middle school and even high school but we haven't kept in touch since we graduated. I was wondering in my mind, "Is everything going to be just like it was?" "Are we still compatible as friends?" "Do we even have the same sense of humor?"

Surprisingly, when we hung out with his girlfriend over pizza, (her idea) it felt just like the old times, and I didn't even have to worry about all the things I worried over before we hung out. It was just as if we'd gotten back together the monday after the weekend.

Maybe that's the thing about your best friends. No matter how different you two can be in lifestyles, beliefs, or whatever. You guys were friends first and foremost. And nothing could stop that.

M&M buds forever.
